I'm also all for models with parasites, broken spikes, and mud splatters. I prefer my dinos in all their idealized, unblemished beauty ;D

I'm also all for models with parasites, broken spikes, and mud splatters. that makes them more real, true, but then you are looking for sort of statues figures

Ok, so I've bitten the forbidden apple with my first Papo today...I must have the rest, even the horrible Pteranodon. But...they're oh so accessible! Everything else is so...hard to find unless it's at the museum (and the museum never seemingly gets Amargasaurus from Carnegie, I'm not gonna expect Dippy either, or Giga) It takes the fun out of the collecting thing...I haven't seen Papo Spinosaurus either.

Health store is where i gotten my Papo Spino. If that's the case would you mind intro me a better store which i can get a better price for dino figure? Try TGFtoys or Dinosaur Farm? Both offer reasonable prices and their service, praiseworthy.. Healthstones isn't too bad too.. Although I haven't ordered from them in recent times and I believe someone here has mentioned that they no longer ship internationally.

Is it just me, or does that Papo Allosaurus looks like it was specifically influenced by Brett Booth's paleoart style? I wonder what Brett will think of it, assuming he wasn't directly involved in the sculpt.

I thought it was reminiscent of Todd Marshall's artwork - Piltdown dug out this potential source of inspiration:

Great idea of creating a members map but it will be great to create a gallery for us to upload our picture. i saw this in other forum before. Cool.. Another Singaporean who appreciates dinosaur replicas.. heh.. I wouldn't recommend Toyosaurus.. I've seen their prices and they aren't exactly competitive.. Singaporians in abundance! Am I the only Brit here? It would be cool to create a members map- I should look into that...

This is so cool looking... sorry to revive an old-ish thread but I came in here for more info after seeing this figure though the blog. I think the other Papo figures are generally poor, at least in perpetuating a 15-year-old view of dinosaurs. But this one I would (probably will!) actually buy. I can see the Todd Marshall comparison, but the first thing that came to my mind was Brett Booth. I had his Allosaurus as a desktop wallpaper for ages back in the day, and this looks just like it. Here's the picture I'm thinking of: demonpuppy.deviantart.com/art/Allosaurus-fragilis-53944567

Heh, I remember when Rhomaleosaurus and I were present and waiting as the Papo allosaurus was being uploaded onto the Papo website. I saw it the second it was available online, and it was 8 am, and I hadn't slept the night before ;D (Thank goodness it wasn't the frilled dilophosaurus Rhomaleosaurus was expecting. I would have had a heart attack ;D ) It was like being present at the Annunciation. ;D "And the angel came in unto TTL, and said, "Hail, thou that art highly favoured, the LORD is with thee; blessed art thou amongst dinosaur collectors. For thou hast found favour with God. And behold, Papo shall conceive in its design studio, and bring forth a new model, and shall call his name Allosaurus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Brother of the Papo Rex, and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of the dinosaurs. And he shall reign over the house of Dinosauria forever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end.
And TTL said,
'My soul doth magnify the Lord,For he hath regarded the low estate of his dinosaur collector, for behold, from henceforth all generations shall call me blessed. He hath brought forth the Papo dinosaurs, he hath scattered the @$$brosaurs in the imagination of their hearts. He hath put down the mighty Battats from their seats, and the Invictas he hath sent empty away."

Yes, that was a fun time! But hey, they still have time to bring out a Dilophosaurus. Obviously they are delayed by the difficulty in producing the articulating frill...
Thag- Brett Booth was suggested as inspiration for the Allosaurus too, but I'm not convinced.

I guess they've changed policy, Healthstones didn't used to ship outside the US (where a large number of us are). For my money, I like TGF toys. So far, no extra billing fees for non-US addresses, the prices are comparable, and their service is excellent--plus I recommend contacting them about any discounts/deals (there is usually a code they can give you).

THE PAPO ALLOSAUR HAS ARRIVED!!!!!!!! Go to jptoys.com and look on the main page! I am a bit dissapointed at it's color scheme, though. THIS PICTURE IS NOT MINE. I "borrowed" it from jptoys.com. I still think it looks cool though. I don't really like the green on the head. once again, these pics ARE NOT MINE. They are from a member on jptoys called freewee.

wow.. finally..
I have 1 reserved from TGFtoys. It should be in anytime I suppose.
The colour looks funny.. maybe its the flash and the obviously poor camera skills/lousy camera.
The snout looks rather different compared to the original promotional shot.

well, I think that Mr. Papo Spino and Mr. Papo Rex have some(Okay- A lot!) of competition from Mr. Papo Allo!

The Papo allosaurus does look somewhat different from his catalogue shot--but I'm buying him anyway I'm still uncertain about those spines on the tail and the crocodile-like scutes on his back and tail, but he does look wonderful
