Dinoboy; Thanks for the info on the Wild Safari Allosaur. Besides collecting dinosaur figures, I build models (mainly military stuff). I have at times improved or modified some of my dinos using my modelling techniques. Revell brought back some of the old Aurora prehistoric kits which is even better yet for improving and detailing out. My two special project kits is the Mammoth (which I plan to really give it hair) and a pair of Anklyosaurs (the Revell one and the Lindberg one) and build them up on a natural prehistoric background / base(small replica plants, rocks, ect., ect.).

*Looks at pic* *Sigh* I'm buying one anyway for old times' sake, but . . . it does look more like Godzilla 98 than a dinosaur I don't think I'll be staying up late for next year's Papo online catalogue update

The Papo allosaurus -- the dinosaur that made me collect Star Wars toys instead ;D Not even the Carnegie 2006 feathered horrors had that dubious distinction ;D

Mine have came from Chicago, left Greensboro as of yesterday and may be here today. If they are I will have a barbecue and let y'all know asap.
chelydrid: That mammoth sounds like a most interesting project. What kind of hair will you be using? I have five T-Tops that I made a dozen or so years back. I think they were Tamiya though, not Aurora.
Augustus: You're not kidding (by much), are you?

I saw two of these at the Canadian Museum of Nature shop. It looks great in person too, and seems to have no problem standing up (I think they changed to a harder plastic). The reason I didn't buy one was the price- $23.95, same as the Tyrannosaurus and Spinosaurus. Is that right?

Wow....I have to get me one of those! I just recently managed to find the *awesome* new Giganotosaurus from Safari, and I am very pleased with all of the new figues they have produced.

Safari was sold out when my local shop finally placed their order..so I have to wait til the end of Aug to find one...though I also need one for a B-Day gift for my younger cousin...guess that means I need two now...darn..

Haven't gotten the Giganotosaurus yet, but I got the Papo Allosaurus a few days ago. It's great, my only complaint is the drab coloring

Just re-paint it with light dry brushing of whatever color you want..I think Allosaurs need a little red..but that could be due to Delgado's AoR : the Hunt series..

I compared the Papo to the very very nice Bullyland Allosaur, which had been my favorite until now. They are in nearly the same pose but the Papo is far more dynamic. The Bullyland Allo is standing there, sniffing(?) the air, tail paerhaps a-twitch but the Papo is on the move with its tail in motion helping maintain its balance. It is also sop well balanced that it can be set up on varied terrain.
The head of the Papo is a bit smaller than that of the Bully-. The spikes give it a Godzilla-like appearance... just a tad off beaty. I like it.

Any chance you could post a comparison pic of the two ? Unfortuantly I have very few Bullyland dinos and the Allo is one of them...most images on websites are dealer pics which often differ from the actual product to a degree..so if you say it's " very very nice " I need to see it... lol I'm a huge Godzilla fan..but I don't see where this guy looks him personnally...I see the spines and scutes and think " Crocodile " or of the Tyrannosaurs in the Zoobooks series...( can't rememeber whose art that is..Hallet maybe ? )

Have got one, bought last week.
Hey, don't ya think that its head would be good for a primitive tyrannosaur? ;D For example to make forelimbs shorter and we've got Albertosaurus... It was my impression after buying it...
