The Amargasaurs in my inventory have no numbers on them, so yours must be very fresh, vine-ripened, etc.

The top one is a famemaster knockoff! Thanks to that piece of information I went back to the store today - and what did I find? Just the one I've been looking for (well, one of them)!

I have a tendency to judge toy lines by the quality of their obligatory Tyrannosaurus figure ('cos, you know, if they can't get that right...), which in this case was probably a mistake. The herbivores don't look so bad.

Excellent new arrivals, Dr. Andre. I like most of the Toyway herbivores, but I agree, the T. rex is sadly disappointing.

The colouration, the face (oh man the face). Just generally a very, very poor 'deluxe' model. So I painted mine, straightened the curly tail and it still looks rubbish. They won't take it back at the shop...they say its not in its original condition. I said it never was in its 'original' condition and plus I got my receipt but still they said no.

So you applied paint. You altered the model. I'm assuming that you removed the tags. Why would you expect the store to take it back? Because you have a receipt? Meaningless. You made it so that they couldn't resell it. Believe it or not, there is no such thing as a law--anywhere--that says a store has to take back merchandise at any time, regardless of condition, because the purchaser has had a change of mind for any reason, even if they have a receipt.

^Err... ok. I was joking but hey...never mind. Guess my humour exhibited itself in the wrong place. I'll know better next time. Hmm. Thanks Sbell.

Got a package from Japan today... Dino Expo 10 'Dawn of the Dinosaurs' figures! There are two Frenguillisauruses, the larger one resin, the smaller plastic, larger resin Saurosuchus, small Promastodonsaurus and Ischigualastia. They are all very nice, I have another one that didn't make it into the picture. sbell, is either of the Frengis like the one you got with the expo book?

Interestingly, I just received my first lot of DotD yesterday, care of Fran (along with my PV amphibians, some other Japanese animals, and yes, the book). The figures I received were Ischigualastia, Exaeretodon, Promastodonsaurus, and Lessemsaurus skeleton. To finish the set, I went over to Clawmark toys and purchased the small Frengi and its skeleton (interestingly, it is not listed on the papers for the set); the Ischi and Exaeretodon skeletons, the Saurosuchus (just the small one--couldn't afford the big guy there) and the Scaphonyx. And as far as I know, Clawmark just got a bunch more of all of them, so now is everybody's chance. By the way, anyone know where Hynerpeton went? Because this set is made for her--even the dinos are more like pre-dinos!

So that book must be pretty big. Let's have a look! It's a coffee-table size book. Lots of very pretty pictures. Can't read a word of it (other than chapter titles--in English--and binomial names). Makes me sad that I can't get to the Expo to see it. I didn't realize that this was part of their Dino Expo 2010 collection. It's nice to get at those sets early--because I am guessing that they will cost a lot when people try to buy them later. Because not one of these animals has been done before (and probably won't be done again anytime soon).

Are you sure they're the same size? The boxed one I got is almost 7 inches from nose to tail; measured along the spine.

I'm basing it on the size comparison with the ones in your photo--and they seem about right (of course, all of that is at home, and I am not). However, the book and figure set is here: www.clawmarktoys.com/product_info.php?cPath=96&products_id=4539For sale no less--plus most of the rest of the figures, too!

Yeah, the cool thing is, a few months ago I had zero Herrerasaurs, now I have three. I'll post some individual pictures of the whole lot of the Dawn of the Dinos figures in the Expo thread eventually. Both of the resin figures, Frengi and Saurosuchus, are very nicely done - no flashy colors but lots of detail work.

Wow, these Dawn of the Dinosaurs figures are great! Hi Horridus and Himmapaan, no the Toyway T-rex is one of the worst I've ever seen. I won't buy that. Strangely, the sculpt quality within the line seems to be somewhat mixed from figure to figure and the ornithopods seem better than the theropods - reminds me of CollectA... The Iguanodon, Corythosaurus and Diplodocus are my favourites. And dip, yes I have the same problems with the Paralititan. I knew before that it is smaller than other "Deluxe" figures but the head is really odd. On the other hand I bought weird-looking CollectA figures before (even Gigantoraptor) and probably will go on doing so. A few days ago I needed to stop myself buying the 1:15 T-rex ;D.

The Iguanodon, Corythosaurus and Diplodocus are my favourites. Those are my favourites too (I posted those on this thread many pages ago ;D). And I agree about the curious variation in sculpting quality. -Papo T-Rex (I needed this fella... he's just meeting my Collecta rexie lady at this moment ) You are simply charm itself, aren't you? ;D Highly commendable new arrivals though. Thumbs up. ;D

Sean or anyone else-- do you happen to have a complete list of the small figures in the line (dawn of the dinos)? I'm confused as to which only have skeletons or only real figures. Thanks!
