Ah, the new arrivals! ;D Finally got myself a Kaiyodo large Camarasaurus ;D It's a beauty for sure. And here he is with the Waiphoon knock-off (really a good copy right down to the skin details!) that was once available in dollar stores for $1.00! This figure I repainted, the unpainted original is somewhere in the vault SEGA brown T-rex ;D I like this version better than the newer red/orange one. Took forever to attach the tail! Some unknown generic figures... kinda cool They were $.99 each! And last, well I'm not usually into JP figures, but these group I found on clearance ($3.00 each!) so I got them. Not too bad . Thats it for now... until my new ones from Japan and another large Kaiyodo arrives ;D

I like that camara. I just ordered one myself. Resistance was futile.

And I thought my Battat Stegosaurus featured in my review had many battle scars...

Hehe, yes; the previous owner had evidently made the most out of them. The Parasaurolophus has more scars on the other side too.

As acts of the most respectful heresy; yes, I'm afraid I do hope to re-paint them someday. In entirely new colours, I think, as trying to touch up and match the original paint when there are so many areas of wear might well yield poorer results altogether.

Yeah I think what you plan to do is better off. Maybe at the very least repaint them in similar color schemes. That way they can look the same as the originals unless u actually stand it next to an original.

I was thinking along similar lines too. Similar colour schemes without actually copying the originals in every direct shape of pattern, etc.

With your wonderful artistic skills, I think you should repaint this beast in a glorious new color scheme of your own devising. I look forward to the results! ;D

What? Painting a Battat?! MADNESS!!! BLASPHEMY!!! SACRILEGE!!!!!
Just kidding. You'd probably be better off painting them to restore them to something like their original state than leaving them like this. Best of luck to whatever you do.

With a diplo that beat up, I would be sorely tempted to mod him into a walking position, give him more belly, etc. THEN repaint him.
The brown sega rex looks nicer than the grey one, but I'm still really turned off by all those sharpei-ish folds of skin.

WOW! That Diplo really have seen some rough play ;D Still, it would be a perfect candidate for repainting. I'm curios to see what you eventually do with it repaint wise

The skin folds on the rex just dont look very natural IMO. Too extreme.

Would it be easy to repaint the Diplodocus? I wonder if a primer would hold on the figure because mostly the old paint is still on. Wouldn't that be a problem? The reason why I ask is that I am sitting next to a Bullyland Deinotherium that keeps bugging me for a new paint job...

Thank you for all your approval and kind words, folks! Dr. Andre, as far as I'm aware, there shouldn't be a problem with the primer adhering to original factory paint. The paint used by most quality manufacturers are usually of a similar material to the plastic of the figures themselves for maximum permanence (if one hasn't been mauling them in vigorous play ;D), so in effect, it's not too disimilar to priming over the naked plastic. I'm primed and painted over the original finish of model horses without any difficulty. Seijun, I think customising it to a walking position would involve so much cutting away and re-sculpting (it will need much more than it looks) that the integrity of the original would be lost (likewise transforming the Carnegie Diplodocus into a rearing position, as I think Blade once hypothesised). It isn't necessarily a bad thing, of course, if it's what one wishes; but I would dearly love to preserve what I can of the original sculpture at least. The Sega rex's skin isn't as Shar-Pei-like as it seems. Those crease lines may look visible, but they're not deep. I think you will like it.
