What part of 'leave out the dinos, pterosaurs and marine reptiles' is so hard? The above snipped quote is good--as you may notice, 2/3 has been cut. I am only interested in hearing about fish, amphibians and early reptiles.

ANOTHER RESURRECTION OF A THREAD! But for a good reason. So I have been talking with the good folks at Safari (have I mentioned I am a big supporter of what they are doing?). I suggested that, while large replicas of amphibians, early fish, etc. might be tough sells, a toob of early fish, sharks and amphians might be easier to pull off, perhaps followed with an early reptile one. So now Ramona has asked for my suggestion of species for the toobs. For the fish/amph one (I know, easy to do both, but to be fair, more marketable together) I have considered: Amphibians: Diplocaulus Crassigyrinus* Tiktaalik* Eryops Ichthyostega/Acanthostega Fish (including placoderms and other extinct ones): Coelacanth (it wouldn't be the first time a miniature was made of a larger figure--I was surprised there wasn't one in this year's toob) Xiphactinus* Alligator gar (a good modern tie-in, similar to the marine life toob modern element) Dunkleosteus or another placoderm (there are lots to pick from) Armoured agnathans (again, lots of different ones) Climatius (an acanthodiian) Hyneria/Eusthenopteron* Shark: Xenacanthus* Hybodus Helicoprion* Stethacanthus I did not suggest any reptiles. So here's the deal--I will get back to her on Monday with my lists--can people please enter suggestions (other than the above) for sharks, fish, amphibians and reptiles (non-dinos, no pterosaurs, no marine reptiles). List as many as you like, but please try to keep it reasonable--I don't think a list of 100 placoderms is really helpful. Also, try not to list animals that are already listed by someone else (although mentioning support for one is probably helpful). Thanks. I think your list is reasonable, although the coelacanth sounds unnecessary since there are so many and Safari is making a big one anyway. I like your shark list, I'd trade Orthacanthus for Xenacanthus too Agnathans need more variation really, I'd vote for the following list: -Sacabambaspis -Anglaspis -Doryaspis -Cephalaspis -Drepanaspis As for placoderms, we need a Gemuendina, a Lunaspis and a Phyllolepis, we have several Dunkies and antiarchs. May I suggest Parexus instead of Climatius? As for amphibians/fishapods, I'd take these from your original list: -Crassigyrinus* -Tiktaalik* -Eryops -Ichthyostega (we have at least two Acanthostegas) And I'd add Platyhystrix Elpistostege, Diadectes, Greererpeton, Peltobatrachus, Gerrothorax and Cacops. As for non-dino reptiles: -Sphenacodon (I'm glad others want to see it too) -Erythrosuchus -Ornithosuchus (or any kind of ornithosuchid) -Cotylorhynchus -Psephoderma -Gracilisuchus -Moschops -Lycaenops (or any kind of gorgonopsid) So no inverts?

A Burgess Shale toob would be awesome too And I don't think it'd be so hard to market. It should include the classics but also Hurdia

I want more Hadrosaurs. Lambeosaurus and Shantungosaurus come to mind. And more small ornithischians. A Thescelosaurus would be awesome.

Tomhet, a LOT of your suggestions are morphologically very close to each other, and many have few morphological novelties. It also strays too far from existing media (walking with, chased by, imax films, etc).
In order for folks to buy this, there needs to be a combination of "popular" forms and bizarre morphology on the lesser known ones.

I rather like that Cotylorhynchus idea, though...

Well, they asked me what I wanted ;D And Cotylorhynchus isn't very popular either ;D I'd cling to both pelycosaurs though

They don't have to be suggestions for your thing(by all means, interpret them as such if you want, I am always happy to provide input).

AMPHIBIANS:
Koolasuchus (reached fame through the WwD Special)
FISH:
Hemycyclaspis
SHARKS:
Stethacanthus (Whoops, sbell, I just noticed you listed this guy! Well then, I second the motion, lol!)
EARLY REPTILES:
Dimetrodon Edaphosaurus Scutosaurus Placerias Postosuchus Arizonasaurus
Any of these early reptiles would make for great juveniles for our larger ones!
Sorry if there are any dupes. It was hard to keep track of what everbody else had already suggested! ;D

I'm sure this has been mentioned somewhere in the jungle of this thread, but an Anglaspis would hit the spot.

Maybe Safari should consider doing Toobs based on time periods before the dinosaurs.
