Anyone who occasionally checks Forest Roger's blog may already be aware of these, but nonetheless these will probably be news of interest to many. It was suggested a new thread be started to discuss them. Rogers is a sculptor responsible for many of the Carnegie figures since the early days of the line. Anyway, here's sculpts for upcoming figures: forestrogers.typepad.com/forestbeings/ I was particularly blown away with the new Spinosaur. It really shows how far paleontological understanding has come since the days of the old Carnegie figure.

Beautiful, both of them. I think the spinosaur is Spinosaurus. The mosasaur is extremely exciting!

Beautiful, both of them. I think the spinosaur is Spinosaurus. The mosasaur is extremely exciting! I think it most likely is Spinosaurus, but given the partial nature of the available skull material, and the various misconstructions of Baryonyx, Suchomimus, Spinosaurus, and Irritator, it required closer scrutiny than I what I know offhand. My knowledge of mosasaurs is fuzzier. I expect you'd have the expertise there. I suppose the ears might be speculative. Any glaring errors?

They REALLY need to make a new, Battat styled rex.

Holy crap...I'm pretty sure that's an Irritator !! Note the crest... ;D And I was just saying today how Safari needs a Tylosaurus... Man these look nothing like past Safari pieces..I'm not even sure I believe they are in fact, Safari...just too nice... After my intial thrill..I wondered if maybe these were the smaller Wild Safari figures...but it says i nthe blog that these actually the larger Carnegie pieces... ;D

I myself would lean towards Irritator on the spino...like bladeofthemoon said, the crest, and just the general comp of the head...
I have not a clue about the tylo...maybe platycarpus ? Someone else on her blog said Tylosaurus proriger...

I would bet that they will just call it a Tylosaurus as Safari does tend to be a little general in their names. I stopped drooling long enough to check out her site...here is a link to the Dino section of her site for anyone wanting to get right to it : forestrogers.typepad.com/forestbeings/carnegie_dinosaurs/

I really hope it's an Irritator--my 2nd favorite dinosaur! (my first is my namesake)

I was hoping for a dino no one had really produced...Irritator is a great choice...in fits enough with Spinosaur fans and is also a fair sized therapod for us general collectors..def a must buy for me... If these are going to be the Carnegie additions...I can only guess what the WS figures will be... ;D

Papo has some serious competition. I doubt something will top these two. Unless Safari releases an heterostracan ;D

Right now they are def top dog for 2009...I can only hope this makes Papo pull out the big guns..a giant Sauropod and a marine reptile/therapod...( has anyone contacted them for an interview or anything ? ) ;D

I kind of like how they are fighting Papo with something different .. Though I'm sure one reason they haven't jumped up and done a JP Rex is because they are based in the US and Universal would be all over them...lol Battat-styled...hmmm..just give them time...it may not be a " Rex " but maybe Tarbosaurus, Charchara...ect.. in that pose.

They need an accurate one, but please don't refer to Jurassic Park for it.
No awkward poses either. I mean, can't they make a perfectly straight T.rex in neutral pose?

I guess the pose depends on balance as well...without a base, overlarged feet, or tails hanging down it's pretty difficult to pull off.
A running/striding Tyrannosaur would be nice....but the balance issue.... :?
I would actually like to have a sitting and /or laying therapod of some sort....add a working jaw like Papo and they have a winner in my book.

I don't think they're going to redo the Rex, they will keep doing theropods though. I truly wish they make a better Acrocanthosaurus but I know they won't ^^^ I truly don't see the point of a moveable jaw. Besides, Carnegies are rigid and I doubt that will change.

If it's a nice moveable jaw like Papo has it would allow for one extra pose....I like open mouthed- teeth showings predators...but closed mouthed ones also look nice...if I alter them slightly I can have a pair relaxing under a tree , one yawning and Safari sells more models..their happy and I'm happy... ;D
Are there two versions of the Carnegie Acro ? I bought mine when it first came out and the head looks a little flat..but the one I saw at the store a week ago looked like it had a thicker head.. :?
I would like if Papo released an Acro..since Safari prob won't re-do theirs immediately as you said.
