Original 1992 Jurassic Park Coelophysis as very very under appreciated. Wire frame allowed for a great range of poses and they look realistic enough to fool lizard hunting dogs and ten year old children. Also underrated is the JP.06 T-Rex Junior. Absolutely beautiful well balanced and rigged. The only draw back is the easily lost "dino bite" piece. (I rubber cemented mine in place.) Over-rated. My vote goes to the JP29 Thrasher T-Rex. Never balanced well, much more fragile than the original roaring/stomping T-Rex and did/does nothing.

Actually, the thrasher has a biting action, and it can thrash out or it's capture gear, or just bit another dino/human and then thrash the heck out of and "kill" it.

Completely agree with you guys. The Dunkleosteus and the JP Coelophysis - grossly under-rated. I'd also have to argue that the Invicta Lambeosaurus doesn't get the credit it deserves. That's why i put it in the logo

Well I don't know if the following Carnegies are over-rated or not; but I'd have to say that the Allosaurus and the Velociraptor leave alot to be desired. On that note though, Safari did a great job on the new Raptor and both of it's Allosaur improvements. I plan on getting Safari's newest additions / improvements when my hobby budget builds back up. The new Papo: Allosaur, Procon: T-Rex, and Carnegie: Giganotosaurus that I ordered took care of my hobby budget for awhile.

I agree the Invicta Lambeosaurus is a work of art.

Most (if not all) the Carnegie figures are overrated.

^^^ Really? I still think the recent ones are works of art. Have you seen the Giganotosaurus or the Diplodocus Now that I think about it, the Papos are very underrated

Most (if not all) the Carnegie figures are overrated. I regrettably have to agree with this assessment. Especially prior to the new management, most of the Safari Carnegie figures were at best nondescript and characterless and at worst clumsy and grossly inaccurate. It is bewildering that those who incessantly harp on the purported "mistakes" of the Papo dinos blithely ignore the glaring flaws of the Carnegies. (The Spinosaurus comes to mind) However, since the new president took over matters have significantly improved. The Safari giganotosaurus is marvellous, perhaps the best theropod they've ever done. The new Wild Safari triceratops, stegosaurus, and raptor are far superior to even their Battat counterparts, and the dunkleosteus is a classic. (I will nonetheless pass over in contemptuous silence the feathered horrors of 2006 ;D ) Underrated: Papo ;D , and the Bullyland dinosaurs. The triceratops and new stegosaurus are as good as anything available now, the brachiosaurus is glorious, and so is the ichythosaurus. The quality of the Bullyland allosaurus is amazing. I will even say the pteranodons are better than Papo

I will even say the pteranodons are better than Papo I don't think there would be much argument from most of us over the early Carnegie stuff. Even at the time, it was pretty bad stuff. Interestingly, though, their non-dinos have tended to be pretty good. One aside--at the time of the Carnegie spino, everybody's kind of looked like that--we expect companies to know better now. In fact, I only recently picked up Carnegie/Safari dinos for my collection, as they are on par or better than many others. The same goes for many of their modern animals too (I love my new hyena). The new management has done wonderful things; let's hope they don't get too complacent or boring (ahem, SHLEICH). And it's time Bulyland got a little more love. They are more obscure, but they have always, at least since 2000 or so, maintained a very high standard (other than their paint--they really need to work on that). Although I am skipping this year's raptor in favour of the Safari. I just like the latter more. Nothing to do with feathers, entirely to do with sculpt and pose.

Ah, the Bullyland 'velociraptor' [sic] , the feathered horror of the year ;D --though if one accepts that velociraptors were fuzzy and had long 'flight-like' arm feathers, then that is unfortunately what it probably looked like Maybe its pose is supposed to portray it as defending its hatchlings or something . . .

Well, it seems the 'inspiration' for the Bullyland velociraptor is our dear Luis Rey. Bullyland is going to run into copyright problems very soon ;D Its first archaeopteryx was directly copied from a drawing by John Sibbick, and its short-lived replacement from the Simon and Schuster dinosaur encyclopedia. And the stegosaurus is patently inspired by the Walking with Dinosaurs stegosaurus. There are at least three available stegosaurs similar to or inspired by WwD. The only one different is--Papo's, which was inspired by another CGI ;D

Fact is, I have no problem with feathered raptors--have I been clear about that? --but I just don't like the figure's pose. I much prefer the Safari one.

Personally, I don't care if the carnegies are innacurate, I still live 'em all (except for the original orange spino, but the new red one is great!)

Feathered velociraptors are just plain bizarre. They look like pariticipants in Marde Gras parades in Brazil. Now granted we really don't know what they looked like with their clothes on, but feathers? Oh well; everybody is entitled to have an imagination.

I think one of the most over-rated dino figures is the JPS2 Gallimimus - everyone wants one, but it's so ugly! That being said, I still love mine though As for most under-rated... I'm not sure right now... will have to get back to you!
