I was torn between the two Safaris, but in the end the Carnegie won out because it's a figure of just one individual, rather than a mini-diorama.

Have to go with the Carnegie, it looks the most accurate in my opinion with the best attention to detail. The Safari is cool but I don't care for the mane of feathers down the back and the naked skin.

Ah, excellent, thank you. I was going to email Dr A with it, but I'll PM it to you in that case.

I voted for Papo Oviraptor, despite its inaccuracies. The "feathered" Oviraptors scare me in a way not too dissimilar to how some folks hold an irrational fear of clowns.

I do have to say this, although I voted for the Carnegie overall, I do think the one with the most elegant posture is the Papo (minus egg). I also love the sculpting of the feet, hands (not talking about their position, but execution) and head. Now if they would only cover the creature with feathers and neutralise the hand positions then we'd be on to a real winner. I should probably mention too that I have both figures.

Papo really need to get on board the feathered dinosaur wagon. They have the potential to turn out some stunning models (as indeed they already have with certain dinosaurs that should be scaley, even if they have inaccuracies).

I was torn between the Dino Discoveries and the Carnegie myself...but voted for the Carnegie as it's more of a " figure "..the DD one is more a sculpture than a toy..and Luis's art is excellent in this form..we need more of em' .. ;D

are there any other 1:40 scale ovis other than the Kaiyodo Dinotales one?

Here are some more: The nesting oviraptor is from the Kabaya Dinoworld series, long retired. The running, non-feathered ovi is from the Tamiya Mesozoic Creatures kit, I don't know if it is still in production or not, but it is still easily available on ebay.

It's just not detailed enough for me..colors are meaningless...

I don't care for the CollectA oviraptor at all. The wings, colors, lack of detail etc. Seeing the Kaiyodo oviraptor for the first time on the blog yesterday though I think I may have to change my vote to that guy, nicely done and I like that the feathers begin on the middle finger.

I went the Carnegie, the Tamiya would've gotten my vote if it was up there.

No one mentioned it but the Carnegie one has an alternate that is less feathered for those interested...I bought both for a male/female pair.
