I am still floored by it. I agree with Blade 'The Watering Hole' was the best of the two and I loved seeing David just... floored by the destruction of that jaw. I still can't believe that jaw healed up. Amazing bones and amazing story to go with the bones.
I am tempted to call the Allo, 'Underbite' now. Yep.

I agree too. 'The Watering Hole' was definitely the better of the two. I prefer an entire episode to be focused on one story, than to jump around to different stories, like in the first episode. Basically like Dinosaur Planet did, back in 2003.
By the way, David. I definitely think that the Lourinhã Formation is something to consider for a future Shapeways series. Its such a diverse location, that not many people know about. I know I didn't! "The Watering Hole' definitely inspired me to learn more! ;D

Hats off to the DR team. The second episode was a particularly great example of a unique concept beautifully executed. I am curious - was the hero Allosaurus ever given a name, like Jack the Rex?

Glad you guys liked it so far. If you like Deadwood....er...Watering hole, wait till the Rexes next week! Allosaurus' name is...Al ( yes I know, how original, but think of Al from Deadwood. Dinheirosaurus is Bull ( Bullock) and Torvosaurus is Torvo ( Tolliver). The Rhamph is Ptweety and Ornitholestes is Sylvester. I'm glad that this evening is over with. I had to stop reading forums and participating simply to kept perspective and finish my job the best I could. I'll be keeping a low profile too for a bit, chat amongst yourselves in an honest fashion. Again, myself and the crew thank you all for watching and contributing to ratings. Love it or hate, without your eye on the screen we may never have any more dino docs. Now, lets finish that champagne... D

Allosaurus saves Dinheirosaurus from a Torvosaurus? And then Dinheirosaurus says "thank you" and Allosaurus says "YER WELCOME"....
Wow. That was awesome. That brought the whole interrelationship between carnosaurs and sauropoda into the next level. This might just make a new college course: Relationships between meat eating dinosaurs and herbivorous dinosaurs: The bridge between evolution, instinct, necessity and personal preference!

Despite implausible behaviours, the show is something worth watching. Great entertainment, with some good information, and good models.

For all the years I had cable, there were no good new documentaries. And finally when 2 come out in such a short span, I can't watch them. Anyone know when the dvd's come out?

They are already to order at the Discovery Store, under shows, under Dinosaur Revolution. I'm definitely getting a shirt of the show! ;D
Regarding my last post I feel completely childish for posting that, so here is my next attempt of what I thought of the show.
In the first episode the animation did have a few bugs, but CG models were absolutely beautiful. It was a little confusing with the short stories for me in the first episode and though I would have preferred to see one continuous episode throughout the hour, seeing many prehistoric animals from different time zones was still very cool.
The second episode's animation was many steps above the first. I very much enjoyed the CG model of the Allosaurus, the detail of the scales were outstanding. The story was also imaginative and well thought out. The only thing that I was curious about, was if predator and prey animals could find 'friendship' in the natural world, like Al and Bull did.
I congratulate everyone working on this amazing series. You all did a wonderful job completing the first two episodes and can't wait to experience the next two. Once again, great job.

I was pleasantly surprised by Dinoaur Revolution! The animals' coloration alone put many other documentaries to shame! The second episode was definitely better, but both were very good and I'll certainly be buying the DVD and watching reruns! The humorous portions were well timed and, although improbable, believable. Very well done!!! If a DR toy series is released, I'll be even happier!

I... could have sworn I'd commented on this thread already, I've been reading it for so long ;D
David and Angie, your work on this series has completely paid off. As many of us have said, your models and colours are just completely fantastic, beautiful, and breathtaking. I forced my paleo-neutral friends to watch the premier since I was away from home on Sunday, and by the time DR was over they were laughing and excited for more; I was picking my jaw off the floor and wiping a dumb grin off my face. I just loved it. The animation may not have been completely smooth, but by the watering hole story it seemed to have picked up a bit - though I am not complaining, I enjoyed every second I saw. Even with the anthropomorphism and humour - truthfully I thought the story telling style was a bit refreshing. I like new things, and even though it may have been more widely appreciated amongst dino buffs if it had been done in a more documentary-like style, I think it was still well done. If it had been done in a more documentary-like style, critics would still find something to complain about. I loved it.
Really, you guys should be so proud.

Hi everyone,
No big deal, but the Eoraptor peacock tail was Iain McCaig's idea and was implemented in the first-pass storyboard phase, which ended up being a collaboration between Iain and his daughter Mishi.
Angie and David's colors were fantastic and abundant, yet this one idea was uniquely McCaigian.

I just saw first two episodes and I must say I was bit disappointed by the first one (animation was really terrible sometimes), however, the second one was really cool. The models and colours were awesome! I must say I can imagine the whole thing without narration and talking heads. This way it would be for me way more enjoyable. I am from old continent and this american TV "documentary" style is for me something really hard to swallow. Bit overdosed by word "revolution" too . Btw. the saurosuchus looks like tuned car! Looking forward to episode 3 and 4!
