I taped it on Monday, and was only able to stay awake for about the first half; long day at work that day . So, one hour in, no dinos, except for some very bendy Brachios that apparently are opportunistic carnivores (according to one of the show's characters),but still didn't eat the little girl holding up leaves for them (PHEW). Oops, gotta go, will finish second half of review in an hour or three

I noticed the bendy necked sauropods in the trailer, they looked awful and the necks too thin as well.

Okay, back. Well after the one hour mark, the action kicks in. The bad guy humans from another settlement attack, only to be attacked themselves by a pair of bad-ass Carnotaurs, which actually looked pretty cool. The action on screen was pretty fast, but my impressions were: too big for carnotaurs, and arms too long. Still, if you're gonna buy into human settlements at 85 MYA, small nitpicking indeed. Overall, looked really cool. Shortly thereafter, the rebellious teenagers from camp 1 get trapped by a bunch of "slashers', which looked like Ceratosaurs crossed with Utahraptors, with a healthy dose of "whiptail" thrown in. Sure they're made up, but they looked pretty cool. Again, see earlier premise-swallowing. Bonus points for the humans using a "sonic blaster"; minimizes bloodshed and doesn't kill the theropods, which is a good idea, I guess, in principle. No carcasses that attract other predators, and eventually they'll learn to stay away from the fort. Now, the human relationships were also kinda dumb, but not outrageously so, obviously, they had a lot of ground to cover in the first episode. Anyway, I'll tune in again next week!

I'm usually a sucker for these sorts of things but I was not impressed. It felt like I was watching a bad 80's action show all spiffied up to look modern. It also felt rushed. As soon as they get to TN all the kids immediately have love interests and everybody important has a back story ready to be filled in as the show goes on? Where is the mystery? Anyway, Nay saying over. I did really like the dinosaurs, whether or not they were accurate. Carnotaurus was especially cool. I'll still watch it, but they have a ways to go to win me over. I'm secretly hoping for Dino Riders action later in the season.

The Carnotaurus' color scheme looked a lot like the new Carnegie figure. I think the show has potential, but I didn't like some parts; like the scene were the kids are trapped in the car by "slashers". Reminded me too much of a certain Hollywood movie. I do like that they don't kill the dinos though! ;D

I do like that they don't kill the dinos though! ;D Oho! But what about that 'fresh' (I'm assuming a Carnotaurus) skull being used as a support for Commander Taylors' table-top? I'd think that they must have had to kill dinosaurs at some-point during construction of the settlement. I totally agree about the Carnegie coloration it did remind me of that a lot and I have to say that I liked it. <3

Perhaps this may be of some interest... ;D I saw that this morning and loved it, I was even gonna post it here but you beat me to it. I finished the entire episode. Overall it wasn't bad but not great, typical for a pilot episode of any series. It mostly introduced characters (most of them cliche) and future plot developments. None of the characters really grabbed my attention except for maybe the two male leads. The teenagers were annoying as all hell and if I had to hear one more say the word "freshy" I was gonna loose it. As for the dinosaurs. The Brachiosaurs looked awful as was already mentioned. The Carnotaurus was pretty cool. The Slashers weren't even all that bad considering they were made up. I still don't understand why they had to make up a species when we have hundreds known from the fossil record. I'm willing to let them slide on this however as they did say in the show that they were not living in the same time stream we knew which opens all kinds of doors. I'll keep watching as long as it's on, just to see dinosaurs at least. Also, I did not get the Avatar vibe from this. The ecosystem had similarities...in that it was a forest. I suppose all the steep mountains and cliffs had an Avatar feel but other than that I saw little to compare the two aside from the obvious.

Saw it. I liked it. Nothing to say that hasn't already been said. As long as they keep showing dinosaurs I'll keep watching it.

I'll have to look again, but I swear I thought the skull under the desk looked like a Giganotosaurus? Wrong time, but I don't think the makers of this show are going for accuracy.
Chainsawraptors! Nuff Said. ;D

I may need to look again but I remember thinking the skull looked like an acrocanthosaurus. I could be wrong though. Not like it matters.

You know it could be that also, I'll have to see that scene again. It wasn't a Carno, too long and large for that. I'm sure a living version will show up at some point. Found a pic of it. ;D

I kinda figured that when they had Brachiosaurus, Carnotaurus and those "Slashers' all living together. I guess you can tell which dinosaurs are made up, they are the ones without scientific names.

Oh, you're probably right. Maybe it is something bigger than a Carno. XD I love the idea of fresh-bones... it really just makes my day. <3
Heeehee! Chainsawraptors! So deadly they'll double murder you. Ah well, I'm going to keep watching. It's got some potential for me. Plus, dinosaurs.

When they first arrived it was said a sound they heard was an Allosaur tripping a mine or something...maybe a Giga then ?

I could see that, especially since it looks like there is some large predator in the next episode trailer. Something I noticed in the show. There are no pterosaurs flying in the skies. Since they are in a jungle there would be more fauna moving around.

Summary: Dystopian world suffering environmental collapse and over population sends people back into the past. Parents of heroic family, a doctor, and policeman, break the law to have an extra child in spite of this. So sending people to escape into the past generates new time line so no human fossils found by the original time line. Since this is alternate time line dinosaurs “could” be different think King Kong dinos. Plot uses JP formula characters with obnoxious teenagers with angst and adults with dubious ethical standards. Carnotaurs with a taste for humans gives me hope for cast improvement. I immediately thought about Primeval when I watched it. The camp looked like it was modeled on my JP toy set. I saw two 3 dinosaurs a carnotaur, brachiosaur and some kind of dromesaur. Mixed fauna from Late Cretaceous Patagonia and Late Jurassic Morrison formation? Allosaur is mention in the early part. I am having Disney Dinosaur déjà vu. So this is an alternative time line but I would still expect someone to notice the faunal issues, would not a knowledge of dinosaurs be a knowledge set you would want in prospective colonists? I will watch it in hopes for product releases.
