mmfrankford: Well, there was a ptetrosaur (couldn't tell exactly what it was) that was flying above the camp when Commander Taylor and Jim went out to look over a cliff. Ah well, more dinosaurs. XD Hopefully the jungle will become teeming with life in the next ep.

When they first arrived it was said a sound they heard was an Allosaur tripping a mine or something...maybe a Giga then ? I could see that, especially since it looks like there is some large predator in the next episode trailer. Something I noticed in the show. There are no pterosaurs flying in the skies. Since they are in a jungle there would be more fauna moving around. I believe I saw some. There are also going to be plenty of them in a future episode. There was that HUGE centipede too..so they aren't totally ignoring other creatures besides Dinos.

Well! What did we think of the latest episode 'Instinct'? Not thrilled with it but the little pterosaurs were great. (they looked a lot like a rhamphorhynchoid-type). Charming creatures when not being crazy. I get the feeling that it's going to be a 'monster-of-the-week' type show, which I really don't mind, and I think Carnotaurus for next week? Maybe?

That's how I felt, after watching last nights episode. Your "monster of the week" comment is right on the money, and like you, I don't mind that one bit. ;D

I just rewatched the carnotaurus attack in ep. 1 about three times (I taped it, of course), and the carnos looked pretty cool and well done. These are "alternate timestream" critters, so certainly liberal license is allowed. Anyone that missed the show can watch it on hulu.com for free, although you'll have to wait a week to watch yesterday's episode. I had a long day at work yesterday and was distracted by the baseball playoffs and MNF and totally forgot to set my VCR (I'm a dinosaur of sorts myself, I guess).

Well, I finally got caught up myself with watching the premiere episode via "on demand" and the second one the night it came on. I'm liking it enough to continue on and see what other critters they'll have. I think the sets and CGI are very well done, especially for a TV series. The opening shots of the future cityscape was really spectacular! (Kinda reminded me a little of Blade Runner.) But, the acting and scripts are generally very mediocre at best. I like the mother/wife/doctor. I think she's pretty good. It's interesting, though. Spielberg is an executive producer on this and the new TNT alien drama, "Falling Skies". And IMHO, the latter has much better writing and acting, and the CGI is good as well. But, like Spielberg, I love both dinos and aliens, so, I can't help myself from watching both! ;D (AND, the AMC zombie series, "The Walking Dead" starts up again on the 16th!) Dinos and Aliens and Zombies! Oh my!!!

I couldn't really get into Falling Skies..too many alien films out there I guess.so I'm a bit burnt out.
Alien Klowns on the other hand.. ;D
I'm def sticking with Terra Nova and Yes ! The Walking Dead does start this month..finally !
On a similar note, FX 's American Horror Story also premiers tonight.

I'm very disappointed in Terra Nova so far...just nothing for character development. They're all cookie cutter characters we've seen before (done better) in situations we've seen before (done better). I really feel like I'm watching a Sci Fi channel original with Terra Nova. I'll keep watching and hoping it gets better, only for the dinosaurs if nothing else.

Oh dang it! American Horror Stories started tonight? I knew I'd miss the first one! Can never keep track of all the new Fall series' start times. Oh, well. Guess I'll have to catch it on "on demand" too. Gotta love on demand! ;D
I don't know. I really liked Falling Skies. Def better acting and script than TN. But, TN has some pretty cool looking CGI dinos and such. So, I'll stick with that one too. Like Gwangi said, if for nothing more than the dinos.
And I loooooved Walking Dead!! Can't believe all that time has passed already since the first season ended. Gotta remember how the last episode ended... That huge explosion that demolished the Center for Disease Control, taking out that last scientist and that really nice black woman who opted to stay behind. The rest drove off safely. Did I forget anything? Hmm? I think that's about it.
Sorry for the long digression. Now, back to the topic at hand.....

After watching the first 3 episodes of this show i can say just two things: - Spielberg simply sucks at making tv shows - after watching the "Slashers vs imbeciles in the tank" scene in the second episode i completely re-evaluated the JP3 Spino, 'nuff said. Oh, and don't get me started about the plot-holes... Those darn plot-holes, aaaAAAAARGH!!!

*SPOILER ALERT*
Well, the new episode, "What Remains", finally came on almost an hour late here on the east coast because of the baseball game.
The story this time didn't really center itself around any particular dino, but, there were still some sitings and a second story line about those "raptor-like" dinos constantly chewing through some of the hoses. I forget what was in them that they were trying to get at? The main story was about something that was causing memory loss.
The other dino sitings were of the Carno and a Brachi and some kind of large green beetle. The quick scene at the beginning had a nice close-up view of the Carno. They had a good profile shot of him standing in front of this guy. Man, he's the size of a Giga! The Brachi shot was kinda cool. When the Commander started losing his memory, he rode his cycle right up to a Brachi that was crossing in front of him. It only showed him from the Commander's perspective and only what you could see from his cycle's light. So, you only saw him from his body on down -- no neck or head. But, what you did get to see was some very nice skin and muscle detailing as he came into view. You really got a nice sense of the Brachi's massive size if you were that close to it. The Commander, not believing what he was seeing, and of course because he's forgotten he's at Terra Nova, shrugged it off as some kind of hallucination and proceeded to drive right under and through it's legs.
BTW, what were they calling those "raptor-like" dinos in this episode? Something like.... Ogresaurus.. or something like that??
I gotta agree about the script and acting in general being very B - C quality (no pun intended, hehe). But, I'm liking the look of it. And the CGI is really pretty good, especially for a weekly TV series.

I think they were called Ovosaurs or something like that. Also, although the Carnotaurus' arms are too long and the hands look pronated, but the arms have feathers!

Yeah I think it was Ovosaurs..not sure why ? ..and they were attracted to the metal Nickle in the lines and hoses..said it was like catnip to them. They didn't seem very dangerous to people. The Commander driving under the Brachio was pretty funny.

Yep, you're both right! Found this... terranova.wikia.com/wiki/OvosaurusOh, that's why they wanted to get into those hoses. I didn't quite catch that. Boy, they lapped that stuff up like there was no tomorrow, lol! And the Carnotaurus had feathers on his arms? Gotta look closer next time. That's wild! I guess I wasn't paying that close of attention during this last episode. I seemed to have missed a lot! That's what I get for trying to multi-task between the TV and Internet. Heh, heh!

Watched the pilot yesterday. Will never watch any of it ever again. It's so badly written...
I guess dinosaurs just aren't enough to pique my interest in this sort of thing any more. There must also be good action scenes, interesting characters, as little plot holes as possible, well written dialogue and that thing called a 'good plot'. TN had none of these.
I might be interested in dinosaur action figures from this show thouygh, if any.

Well, *yaaawnnnnnn* I just saw the new one tonight and I think it might be my last, lol! There was only a few seconds towards the end that had one brief dino cameo. I think one of those "Ovosaurs".
I'm trying to keep track of too many new shows this fall, and they're all MUCH better than this one. I think I'll just stick with "The Walking Dead", "American Horror Story", and the new season of "Dexter." And maybe catch this one "On Demand" if it has any dinos in future episodes. In the clip for the next show (which I think they said was in 2 weeks), it looks like there might be more dinos, but they could be showing their only scenes, lol!
